Paul Flood Cup

Gorey 0

Tullow 31

TULLOW ladies faced a difficult challenge on Sunday in the Paul Flood Cup away to Gorey who have proven strong opposition over the years.

The  difference in league standings was evident in the first quarter as a strong and fit-looking Gorey side with some fine individual talent matched up to a motivated and ambitious Tullow side.

It took 19 minutes for the visitors to draw first blood with a nice try from Ciara O’Dywer who played out of position at full-back rather than in the back row.

Chloe Farrell scored a peach of a try on 24 minutes which was converted by out-half Catherine Dempsey who is in good form recently.

Tullow lead 12-0 at half time but Gorey still made life difficult for the visitors. A second try on 42 minutes by O’Dwyer made the task easier. Player of the match Clare Nolan was  rewarded after 58 minutes with another touch-down to put the game out of reach.

Ciara O’Dwyer finished the scoring with her third try with Tullow now set to meet Edenderry in the next round.
