MEMBERS of Killeshin GAA will have a head for heights after they take on an abseil challenge at the home of GAA.
Close to 30 members and supporters will abseil off Croke Park on Saturday 15 June to raise funds for their club.
Volunteers are all currently beavering away seeking sponsorship. Those who buy a line in sponsorship are entered into a draw with fabulous prizes on offer, including an Apple watch, HD TVs and All-Ireland tickets.
“All of those involved are doing great. We have players involved and commitment members as well as friends and family,” said club treasurer Claire McHugh. “Some of those involved took part in our parachute jump last year, so they are carrying on the spirit of adventure!”
The challenge would naturally be daunting for some who are taking part.
“It’s definitely going outside most people’s comfort zone, but they are all encouraged by each other and there is a bit of banter to see how everyone goes,” added Claire.
Leading by example is club chairman Gavin Deering who will be the first to descend.
Supporters are invited to Croke Park to cheer on the abseilers and a bus will take them to the venue on the day. For more information, contact Claire on 086 0634949 or Gavin on 085 7186676.
Funds will go towards the club’s development plans, which include a new pavilion.
