COLM Bonnar and Turlough O’Brien have been appointed as the Carlow senior hurling and football managers for another year.
At a county committee meeting tonight (Monday), club representatives ratified Bonnar’s appointment without debate but there was a discussion among delegates when chairman Sean Campion put to the floor the management committee’s recommendation to reappoint Turlough O’Brien and football coach Steven Poacher for another year.
Delegates expressed their concern about the style of football which Carlow played over the last number of years and hoped that this would change for 2020.
Ultimately, after an open discussion O’Brien and Poacher were reappointed with no dissent.
Neither manager has announced his full backroom team yet but it is expected these positions will be announced at the weekend.
Because of the possibility of a change to the under-20 intercounty competitions, the other intercounty management positions will not be announced until a later date.
