Burren Rangers 6-10
St Mullins 0-5

Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh siad. The dedication and hard work of so many in the Burren Rangers club was rewarded on Thursday when they won the under-15 Division 2 hurling final at Netwatch Cullen Park.
The final scoreline doesn’t do justice to the efforts of the St Mullins players who, even when it would have been easier to give in, still threw their bodies on the line to prevent the Burren goal tally go higher.
Even though St Mullins got off to a solid start with a point from James Doyle they soon found themselves trailing when a Billy Nolan long-range free saw the wet sliotar skid to the net despite the efforts of the St Mullins defence.
It went from bad to worse when Kevin Maher forced the ball over the line from close range. Then Oisin Lyons and Patrick Doyle raised green flags to leave St Mullins with a mountain to climb for the second half as Burren led 4-7 to 0-3 at the break.
It was a completely different third quarter as the South Carlow side stormed back into the game. The Burren defence were not for turning and while James Doyle landed a point from play and converted a free and a 65 it was never going to be enough to save St Mullins. They needed goals but Burren did not lose their concentration.
In fact both sides found scores hard to come by but eventually Burren added to their total when Oisin Doyle found the net. He added a second late on as Burren celebrated a great victory which was fashioned on the training field by players and their mentors alike.
