IF it’s the FA Cup then it has to mean Padraig Amond among the goals and the Carlow man duly found the net today as Newport County booked their place in the third round of the famous old competition.

Newport missed a first half penalty while Amond was on the bench against Salford but then went ahead in the 55th minute through Jamie Proctor.
Amond was introduced in the 72nd minute and then was given a chance to continue his amazing cup scoring record when they were awarded a second penalty three minutes later. He confidently converted and County went on to wrap up a comfortable 3-0 win in injury time.
It means the League 2 table toppers are in the draw with the Premier League big boys yet again and having pitted against the likes of Man City, Spurs and Leicester in the recent past, they’ll be hoping for another big draw.
