IT was great to see everyone getting back to normal and St Laurence O’Toole athletic club would like to welcome back its members and new members in a safe manner adhering to the health guidelines.
It is important mentally and physically to keep fit and the club are there to help everyone.
Our juvenile trainings times have not changed and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm Billy Costello, Maria Butler and Tanya McDonald train the 5 to 9 years old. We have a number of coaches who look after the 10 years up from 7.15pm to 8.15pm and they include Ciaran Ryan, Luise Hutton, David Perry, Brian Kirwan, Aideen Brophy Eugune Kirwan and Billy Delaney.
On Saturdays the Hyland brothers of Mick, Donnach and Jim guide the pole vaulters to new heights. While Cormac McDonnell trains high jump on Sundays.
The ever green James O’Rourke motivates the Fit4life group who are a very important part of the club are hoping to start a new couch to 5K in September geared towards a Christmas run being the goal. All standards and all ages are catered for. Come along at 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm to get started. The group have a very good speed session on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm while Saturday mornings at nine it starts the week with a nice road run with a distance of your choice.
Plans are being discuss by Athletics Ireland, Leinster Athletics and Carlow Co Board with regards to getting competition up and running again and details will be published when available.
