That stadium is about a three-hour drive from the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo and has previously held games at the 2002 soccer World Cup, including Brazil’s 2-1 win over England in the quarter-final, and also Ireland’s 19-12 defeat to Japan at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Marcus, and Carlow’s eventing star Sam Watson, will be part of the Irish team at the opening ceremony which takes place on Friday 23 July at 12 noon Irish time.
Lawler will be on track for the 200m heats on 3 August at 3.05am, Irish time.
