Some of the delicious produce available at An Gairdin Beo, Carlow every Wednesday morning

By Suzanne Pender

YOU are invited to the ‘come pick your own’ project in An Gairdín Beo every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm for the month of August.

There’s a delicious array of vegetables on sale, including beetroot, onions, scallions, lettuce, turnips, rhubarb, strawberries, spinach, cabbage, broad beans, cut herbs, potted herbs, sage, thyme, basil, coriander, lemon balm, potted outdoor plants, potted indoor plants, homemade marmalade and chutneys.

A stall of high-quality accessories is also available on site. New and barely-worn scarves, wraps, jewellery, unwanted and unopened gifts, along with vintage leather and designer bags are available for prices ranging from €35 and below.

In the interest of health and safety and sustainability you are asked to bring your own bag and tools. You are welcome to enjoy outdoor tea and coffee, containers supplied.

Donation boxes will be at the cob oven area. All proceeds go towards the development and maintenance of An Gairdín Beo.

If you have a surplus of produce, you are welcome to donate it to the garden on Wednesday mornings.

Unfortunately, An Gairdin Beo cannot accommodate cars on the premises, while there is no card facility available.
