It’s out with the old and in with the new in Tile N Style in Shamrock Business Park, Graiguecullen as they host their annual clearance sale.

Running for two weeks until Saturday 23 October, the Marquee Madness Clearance Sale will feature hundreds of lines of stock in tiling, to make room for brand new ranges and styles, newly imported from Italy.

For the first time since the pandemic, owners Bernard Horohan and his wife, Vicky, had the opportunity to visit trade shows in Bologna, Northern Italy where they chose new stock for their shop.

It was great to see new product available again. Every year, we’d usually travel to Italy, Spain and Portugal, buying new stock but because of the pandemic, none of the trade shows could take place. This is the first one that we’ve gone to since so it was amazing to see the range of products available,” Bernard told The Nationalist.

Since we started this business 19 years ago, it’s been fascinating to see the changes and how the products have evolved. We only stock good quality, middle to high end products in our shop and we like to keep it up-to-date. That’s why we get rid of the old stock in our clearance sales and we’re happy to do that. We’re always ahead of the curve, in terms of styles and product,” he continued.

The Marquee Madness sale is where hundreds of bargains are waiting to be discovered with tiles, wooden flooring and bathroom suites reduced to rock-bottom prices. There’s stock from Spain, Portugal and France as well as India and South America.

Tile N Style was established 19 years ago and has been growing since. Bernard remembers what it was like setting up the business almost two decades ago.

My wife, Vicky, and I were renovating my grandparent’s, Jim and Moll Horohan’s, place on JKL Avenue at the time. We were looking for new tiles and compared what we saw in Carlow and what we saw in Dublin. It was phenomenal! The difference was chalk and cheese, with the range of products in Dublin being so much better. I decided then that I wanted to set up a shop there and then,” Bernard explained.

Bernard’s first premises was opened in 2002 on Kennedy Street and it later moved to Shamrock Business Park in 2005. Even from those initial early days, Tile N Style stood out from the rest. Bernard had a great eye for colour and design, and of course, a fantastic relationship with his customers.

Last year he decided that he would add to his comprehensive range of tiling and wooden flooring by opening up a paint shop. “We’ve had an excellent year so we’ve decided to expand. People have been really focussing on their homes since last year and we’ve been here to help them with that,” said Bernard.

They stock products by The Paint Hub, which is a locally-owned company as well as painting products that will cover any surface.

Tile N Style have also expanded their wooden flooring range and have lots of laminate, semi-solid and LVT flooring to chose from.

The customer service provided by him and his staff members is exceptionally good and was recognised officially when they won a customer service award from Carlow County Council.

Among the services they provide is one-on-one consultations, home and site visits, and plenty of great advice.

We provide a great service for our customers. We’re always on the other end of the phone,” Bernard pointed out.

His voice can be recognised across the county and beyond, too, as one of his favourite past-times is commentating on GAA games on KCLR with sports commentator, Brendan Hennessy.

The Horohan family are well known for their community and charity work and in recent years have raised over €12,500 for the Carlow Kilkenny Homecare Team.

Their latest contribution to the community, with the support of Carlow Town Community First Responders, is the installation of a defribrillator, which is accessible 24/7 outside their store in Shamrock Business Park. “We like to give back to our community; people have been very good to us, so we try to give something back to them,” said Bernard. Tile N Style continue to go from strength to strength. From bathrooms and floors, from paints and all painting accessories, look no further than Tile N Style.

The Marquee Madness sale continues until Saturday 23 October and will feature massive reductions, some up to 70% off tiles, flooring and bathroom suites. You’ll come for the range of products and you’ll certainly stay for the excellent value and service!
