THE proceeds of a series of Ardattin fundraisers were presented to the Carlow Kilkenny Homecare Team recently.
Known simply as the Ardattin Fundraisers, the initiative, which is organised by a group of local families, has been running for the last seven years. A cheque for €5,125 was presented to Marion Smyth and Mary Foster of the Bagenalstown branch of the homecare at the Ardattin Inn recently.
The cheque was the proceeds of three events – an Easter walk to Ballintemple Woods, a tractor run in July, and a November table quiz.
Karen Mullins of the Ardattin Fundraisers group thanked all local shops and businesses in Ardattin and Tullow, who sponsored prizes for raffles during the year.
“People are very generous in the local areal,” she said. Outlining the importance of raising funds for such a worthy cause, Karen said: “Just to be able to come and give back, it means a lot to people, and people who donated are also very grateful. With this money, other families can benefit, too.”
