Carlow 3-12
Kildare 1-10
All-Ireland Minor Camogie Championship – Round 5
Carlow secured their place in the All-Ireland minor camogie championship semi-final with a convincing win over Kildare at The Carlow Training Centre on Sunday. It was their third win of the campaign which gave them third spot in the table.
The sides were level in the opening stages with Holly Wall picking off two points. The visitors also scored two points.
It was tit for tat until Sarah Sheehan picked out Aimee Nolan and the Myshall player found the Kildare net. The visitors hit back and the scores were tied at 1-5 each at the interval.
Points from Roisin Joyce and Leah Ryan which sandwiched a goal from Wall set Carlow on their way. When Nolan netted a second time, it was Carlow’s to lose. This was never going to happen. India Mernagh and Sarah Sheehan got on the scoreboard in the closing minutes as the defence kept a close watch on Kildare and never gave them an inch for the entire second half.
This sets up Carlow nicely now as they await semi-final confirmation of a date and venue which has still to be announced.
