The finished conservation work on a section of the railings

By Suzanne Pender

WORK must continue on Carlow courthouse railings, urged members of Carlow Municipal District.

Cllr Tom O’Neill raised the issue at a recent meeting, pointing out that the work completed earlier this year on a section of the railings was fantastic, but now “seems to have stopped”.

“Can we have an update on this?” he added.

Director of services Kieran Cullinane stated that the Courts Service had written to the council on the matter and the cost involved to complete the work is “significant”.

“It’s a huge amount of work and they are asking the council because they have a limited budget,” added Mr Cullinane.
