THE search for missing Carlow man John Coakley continues with a fresh appeal for information and CCTV/dash-cam footage.
John Coakley (40) from Brown Street was last seen on Kennedy Avenue, Carlow at 2.55am on Saturday 15 April.
Searches along the River Barrow in Carlow were carried out this morning (Sunday) by locals and gardaí including a cadaver dog provided by Paul Murphy of FiTom Detection Dogs.
John’s father John Snr and his friend Kieran Kehoe, along with gardaí, have been tirelessly searching for him over the last three weeks.

John Coakley has been missing since 15 April
John Snr and Kieran made a fresh plea for information, CCTV and dash-cam footage. They are looking for CCTV and dash-cam footage from Kennedy Avenue, Kilkenny Road, Burrin Street, Brown Street, Green Road and Monacurragh. The window between 2.55am and 3.15am is of particular focus, but footage from later on is also sought.
At 3.08am, a JJ Kavanagh bus pulled into Carlow Bus Park on its way to Waterford. Several people exit the bus, while there were around five other individuals passing through the area around the same time along with mini-buses and taxis. John Snr and Kieran would like to see these people come forward as they may have important information.
While there is still great uncertainty about John’s whereabouts, it has been categorically ruled out now that John got on that early morning bus. John Snr can be reached on 085 8222438.
There is also a plea for landowners and people who may have buildings/outhouses, or persons with vacant dwelling, to see if they have been used, which might assist gardaí in locating John.
John Coakley is described as approximately 6’ 1” in height. He is of thin build with black hair, which is receding, and green eyes. He was last seen wearing black Nike runners with reflective white strips, dark blue jeans, a black short-sleeved polo top and a sleeveless black gilet jacket. He was also carrying a short-handled shovel similar to a camping shovel.
Anyone with any information that might help identify John’s whereabouts can contact Carlow Garda Station on 059 9136620, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or indeed any Garda Station.
