ST MARY’S Academy CBS, Carlow has just launched its annual golf classic, a great highlight in the school calendar.

Past and present students, along with principal Fiona Lennon and staff members, gathered on the first tee at Carlow Golf Club to launch the increasingly-popular outing. Carlow and Éire Óg footballer Jordan Morrissey was on hand to tee-off and get the ball rolling on what is sure to be a great day out. CBS has a long tradition of successful sports teams and individuals, so there were some notable former students lending their support to the event.

The golf day is a fundraising event towards the cost of a new astro-turf pitch to complement the forthcoming new school building and will, no doubt, be an invaluable resource to current and future students.

The golf classic is due to take place on Friday 26 May and if anyone would like to enter a team, some spots are still available. There are also several sponsorship opportunities that people can avail of, such as tee-box sponsorships or spot prizes. Please contact Jim McVeigh on 086 4556595 for more information.

The launch was an enormous success and a testament to the hard work of the organising committee.
