SUSTAINABILITY consultancy VisionGreen has been selected to represent Carlow at the upcoming National Enterprise Awards in May, following its success at the recent Carlow Enterprise Awards ceremony.

The Rathvilly-based environmental consultancy, founded in 2019 by Ronan Murphy and John Pakenham, specialises in creating tailored sustainability solutions for businesses of all sizes, helping them meet compliance requirements and reduce environmental impact while boosting profitability.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office (LEO), took place during Local Enterprise Week, which saw over 320 events nationwide aimed at supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs. Minister Dara Calleary presented awards across five categories at the event, which was attended by local business leaders and council representatives.

Speaking at the ceremony, cllr Fergal Browne, cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, highlighted the importance of recognising businesses that contribute to economic growth: “The National Enterprise Awards honour the dedication, creativity and perseverance of individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the local economy.” VisionGreen’s co-founder Ronan Murphy expressed gratitude to the local community during his acceptance speech, recognising the trust Carlow customers have placed in the company from the outset and how this has supported its global ambitions for growth and expansion.

Four other category winners were also announced at the ceremony: JF Sports (Digital Business Award), Country Kitchen (Green Business Award), Coppenagh House Farm (Lean Business Award), and Seed Golf (Exporting Business Award).

VisionGreen will now compete against representatives from 30 other Local Enterprise Offices for a prize fund of €53,000 at the National Enterprise Awards final, which will be held at Dublin’s Mansion House on 22 May. Carlow has a strong track record at this national competition, which has been running since 1998, with Eskimo Software winning the National Exporter Award last year, while David Walsh of Netwatch and Halocare received the inaugural Outstanding Achievement Award in 2023.
